Hurricane Tour Blows Into Town

Hurricane Tour Blows Into Town

Who: Red Riders, Faker
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Friday October 14, 2005

FOR a group of guys that only got around to forming a band two years ago, the Red Riders (pictured) haven't done too badly.

Just six weeks after their first rehearsal, the quartet landed a support gig at a Sydney hotel playing to a sold-out crowd that included a host of industry professionals eager to sign them up.

From there the band supported Scotland's Franz Ferdinand on their Australian tour which was then followed by shows alongside the Sleepy Jackson, The Cops and Youth Group. Now the Red Riders are rocking venues across the country with fellow Sydneysiders Faker on their Hurricane Tour which appears at the Cambridge Hotel on Friday night.

For those who are yet to familiarise themselves with the band, think Franz-style art rock peppered with Bloc Party's post- punk flavour.

Now signed to indie label Ivy League, the Red Riders launched their debut EP The Plan A with shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney last month; the track Call On Me has been getting plenty of airplay on Triple J. An album is expected to be released next year.

Tickets are on sale at Beaumont Street Beat, The Rock Shop, Sound World, the venue or online at bigtix.com.au
