Carols Set To Swing Into City's Park

Who: Ultra Swing Lounge, The Milton Ward Orchestra, Monica Trapaga, Jill Rowland, Evan McInnes, Daniel Webb, The Hunter Singers
What: Carols by Candlelight
Where: King Edward Park
When: Friday December 16, 2005

SANTA will swing into King Edward Park next month when The Herald Carols by Candlelight return on Friday, December 16.

He will be joined by guest performers such as The Milton Ward Orchestra, Monica Trapaga, Jill Rowland, Evan McInnes, Daniel Webb and the Hunter Singers . as they celebrate the festive season with an evening of song. Adding a distinctly cool touch to the carols this year will be Hunter- based outfit Ultra Swing Lounge. Recalling the days of the big bands, Ultra Swing Lounge provides nostalgic memories for those who grew up listening to songs that are now standards. Comprising Daniel Stoddart, David Andrews and Steve Hudson, the band had sell-out shows at the Civic Theatre Newcastle earlier this year after a successful regional touring season.

There will also be kids' entertainment, fireworks and, of course, an appearance from Santa.

A full program and a carols lift- out will be published in The Herald on Friday, December 16.

The Herald Carols by Candlelight begin at 6.30pm and admission is free.
