Who: MurmuR, Lout, Benj Axwell
Where: Lucky Country Hotel
When: Saturday June 11, 2005

THREE years ago Novocastrian rock trio MurmuR played its first show during a heat of the Campus Band Comp at the University of Newcastle. While they didn't make it through the first time, it didn't deter the band from giving it another go last year.

Although unsuccessful, MurmuR went for it again this year, and this time it was a case of third time lucky.

MurmuR placed first in the heat and has moved on to the next round, which will take place at the Bar on the Hill tomorrow night.

Guitarist Daniel Honan said he was a little shocked the band made it through, considering he thought it wasn't quite up to scratch. ``We didn't really feel that we went that well, but it was really nice to finally get recognised,'' Honan said. MurmuR also impressed organisers of the upcoming Richapalooza event enough to be invited to play the show.

The huge gig will be held at the Bar on the Hill on Friday, June 10, and will include Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies's new band Tambalane as well as Sydney's The Devoted Few .

Another show confirmed for MurmuR is a gig at the Cambridge Hotel on Wednesday, June 8, with Sydney outfit Town Hall Steps , which supported Avril Lavinge in Newcastle.

MurmuR will then take it down a notch and play an acoustic set on June 11 at the Lucky Country Hotel alongside Lout and Axwel from Sleight of Hand.
