Heavyweight Backing Won't Send Them Awry

Who: Gangawry, The Angels
Where: Nelson Bay Bowling Club
When: Friday April 8, 2005

WHEN you are a new band trying to make a start in the music world, it does not hurt to have the backing of an industry heavyweight.

That is why things are looking good for new Sydney rock outfit Gangawry. Signed to industry veteran Harry Vanda's new label Flashpoint Music, which recently released The Wrights' hit Evie parts 1, 2 and 3, Gangawry is shaping up to be the next big rock band to take on the country.

Nick Norton fronts Gangawry on guitar and vocals, joined by bassist Tim West, drummer Warren Power and guitarist Brendan Jones. Stylistically there is a strong range of influences with elements of blues, rock and funk all working their way into the band's sound. lw-7 Tight and energetic performances from the group have already attracted attention, with the band receiving rave reviews from Australian Music Week in Melbourne.

Catch Gangawry supporting the Original Angels Band at Nelson Bay Bowling Club on Friday, April 8, and Cardiff Panthers on Saturday, April 9.

Tickets are available at the venues.
