A BIRTHDAY is always a big occasion.

And after spending the past month on the road touring the country, celebrating its 21 years together, the Hard Ons are sure to bring the house down when they wrap up the tour in Newcastle this weekend.

To add to the festivities, the Hard Ons have reunited with original member Keish especially for the tour after he quit the band several years ago and was replaced by Pete Kostic. Keish will join Kostic, alongside long-time members Ray Ahn and Peter ``Blackie'' Black, on stage and present the Hard Ons as a four-piece for the first time. ``We hate nostalgia but we just wanna part ways with the old Hard Ons in a fun way, do something that is once, and once only, just for fun,'' bassist Ahn said.

In the 21 years since the Hard Ons formed in Sydney, the band has racked up a stack of memorable shows, including sharing the bill with Nirvana and Rollins Band, and a prolific number of single, EP and album releases. The Hard Ons will play the Band Room @ Newcastle Leagues Club on Saturday night with support from Gazoonga Attack and Conation. Advance tickets are available online at www.bigtix.com.au or at the door on the night.
