Pictures Are On The Move Again

Who: Moving Pictures
Where: Sydney Junction Hotel
When: Wednesday August 17, 2005

FOR the first time since 1987 the voice and soul of one of Australia's most celebrated rock acts will come together to perform the anthems that made them a household name back in the early '80s.

In an intimate acoustic event, Moving Pictures will perform all of their smash hits for the first time in more than 15 years.

The tour will see Alex Smith and Charlie Cole recapture the thousands of hearts they won when they exploded onto the Australian music scene with the monster hit What About Me. nf Originally formed in Sydney's northern beaches in 1978, Moving Pictures' debut album Days of Innocence catapulted the band to national stardom.

The second album, Matinee, was released in 1983 and backed up the initial success with the hit single Back To The Streets. With countless other hits including Sweet Cherie, Bustin' Loose, and Where Do They Belong, the band's position in the history of Australian music was firmly consolidated when those releases reached multi-gold and platinum success.

The hit single What About Me stayed at the top of the Australian charts for seven weeks and won a string of Countdown and ARIA awards.

The album was released internationally and the hit single reached number 19 in the US Billboard Top 20.

After the band's US distribution label went bust, the group lost member Garry Frost, but the song was re- released in the US in 1987 and became the second-longest running single of the decade.

``We have three albums worth of material to go through and it should stir up some good memories for our fans,'' Smith said.

Moving Pictures will perform at the Sydney Junction Hotel next Wednesday, August 17.

Tickets are $20.
