Bella Can't Resist Force Of Gravity

Who: Bella, Snape Bros, Kep
Where: Western Suburbs Leagues Club
When: Wednesday May 25, 2005

AFTER winning over country music fans around the country, Newcastle trio Bella will make a special homecoming next month to showcase their stunning debut album Gravity. It will be the first time in 12 months Bella has performed in Newcastle due to its hectic tour schedule.

There is no doubt the past couple of years have been a whirlwind ride for Karen O'Shea, Lyn Bowtell and Kate Ballantyne. In the space of two years, Bella has gone from singing together at local pubs and clubs to picking up awards at Australia's biggest country music celebrations.

Originally performing as Anam Cara, O'Shea, Bowtell and Ballantyne started out playing just for fun.

It wasn't until the girls were approached by a respected industry expert who encouraged the trio to take things to the next level.

Not long after, the trio ventured into the studio to record its first independent single Tumbling Down. With the ball well and truly rolling, Anam Cara changed its name to Bella and took out the Best Group category at the Toyota Gold Guitar Awards at Tamworth in January last year.

Now, with the backing of a major record label Sony/ BMG, Bella has become one of the hottest names on the country music scene.

About a Girl, which was penned by Bowtell, was released in September last year and is the first track taken from the band's debut album Gravity. The album was released in January and the accolades continued to pour in for the group with it winning the CMAA Best Group Award for the second consecutive year.

Bella will officially showcase Gravity during a performance at West Leagues Club on Wednesday, May 25.

Bella will be supported by Byron Bay-based singer- songwriter Kep and long- standing Newcastle outfit Snape Bros. Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost $15 for members and $20 for guests.
