PTY LTD: A Live Act is Good Company

Who: PTY LTD
Where: QWB - Queens Wharf Brewery
When: Sunday March 7, 2004

FEW musicians could claim to have recording at a secluded Buddhist retreat in the Himalayas.

But Brisbane band PTY LTD was lucky enough to record material for its forthcoming album in a retreat overlooking the Himalayan ranges during a recent tour.

``We got to sit there for four days in front of this stunning view recording all these tracks for the new album,'' keyboard player PETER GOLIKOV said.

``Every time I hear those tracks it just does something to me, takes me back there.'' Formed in 2001 by Golikov and identical twins TIM and DANNY TAINSH, Pty Ltd is part of a new wave of bands who produce funky dance music as a live act.

Delivering deep house tunes, the band has ventured out of Brisbane and taken Sydney's scene by storm after an electrifying performance at the GOOD VIBRATIONS festival in January.

It has previously supported the likes of DIMITRI FROM PARIS, CARL COX, RESIN DOGS and ENDORPHIN. Pty Ltd released its debut album You Should Be Like This More Often in September 2003 and plan to follow it up this year.

Strong interest has also come from the US where two singles from the trio's Liquid Sunshine EP were remixed by DJ DERRICK CARTER , reaching number one on the American independent house charts.

Golikov believes the band has plenty of potential in the US he said ``they're still so blown away by the fact that we do it all live''.

Catch Pty Ltd at THE BREWERY on Sunday night. Entry is free.
