US country music star JO DEE MESSINA will start a national tour of Australia next month.

It will be the multi-award winning singer's second time here.

``We've been looking forward to getting back down to Australia for a long time,'' Messina said.

``We had a lot of fun with the audiences there last time.

``They know all my songs and joined in. That was a real blast.'' Messina toured Australia in 2001 after releasing her hit album It's Alright. She has since released another chart-topping album titled Burn which, like its predecessor, has achieved platinum status.

This tour follows the release of Messina's new Greatest Hits album. which encapsulates her charged career so far.

Promoter ROB POTTS said ALLIED ARTISTS is excited to have Messina back in Australia.

"We're thrilled to finally confirm this tour with Jo Dee,'' Potts said. ``She has a very hectic touring schedule in the USA so it's exciting to have her back,'' Potts said.

``Our audiences loved her incredible energy and vitality on stage and really connected with her,'' Potts said.

Messina stormed into the US charts 1996 with the single Heads Carolina, Tails California and had become one of the most popular country music stars.

The tour will start in Penrith on April 22 and include an appearance at PANTHERS NEWCASTLE on April 28 with support from MICHAEL CARR. The club is selling tickets and bookings can be made on 4926 2700.
