Who: Dr Octopus, Rubix Cuba
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Wednesday April 28, 2004

SKANKING is what Newcastle's RUBIX CUBA and Gold Coast band DR OCTOPUS do best.

Punters can expect a sensational ska show when both play at this week's instalment of THE GLASSHOUSE at the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL tonight.

Dr Octopus will play Newcastle as part of its East Coast tour which began earlier this month to celebrate the release of the new EP, Monaco Street Crime Syndicate .

Since its release, the EP has already climbed into the Top 10 of the AIR chart.

Comprising seven members, Dr.

Octopus is mainly a ska band but dabbles in rock, reggae, two-tone, swing and rockabilly influences.

Dr Octopus formed two years ago and has earned a reputation for delivering high-energy performances, winning the band support slots alongside REEL BIG FISH, PILOT TO GUNNER, SNUFF, THE PORKERS, and AREA 7. American ska kings Reel Big Fish were so impressed by Dr Octopus that they invited the band to play at the world's largest ska music festival, SKA SUMMIT, at Las Vegas in March 2003.

``I think they were really impressed with our professionalism so they invited us over and we didn't want to knock it back,'' singer KIMBERLEY LAW said.

The Glasshouse starts at 9pm and entry is free.
