Who: Jabba
Where: Newcastle Panthers
When: Saturday November 29, 2003

CHANNEL V presenter JABBA is scouring the country in search of a sidekick to join him on his new program, JABBA'S NAUGHTY NIGHT'S .

Jabba, who has been presenting on Channel V for the past eight years, said the auditions had brought out some of Australia's quirkiest people.

`It's been going really well, we've had a whole bunch of people show us their fruity moves,'' Jabba said.

``I guess you could say we're getting a bunch of closet freaks,'' he said.

``We're getting some interesting people, very interesting indeed.

'' Auditions kicked off in Sydney on November 13 and have been held in Perth, Hobart, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The final round of auditions will be held on Saturday at PANTHERS NEWCASTLE.

A total of 12 hopefuls will join ``Jabba Boot Camp'' in December before the winner is chosen.

``The things we want the winner to do will range from physical to intellectual challenges.

''Dubbed THE MASKED AVENGER , the winner could be expected to do anything from go to the BIG DAY OUT dressed in a g-string to getting bad-boy rapper 50 CENT 's autograph during his Australian tour.

Jabba said those who audition are required to wear a mask ``to give them some anonymity so they feel comfortable doing the kind of things we ask them to do.

''He adds that the only advice for Novocastrians is to be themselves and ``probably have a beer before they come to the auditions''.

``It's a pretty easy audition process.

You can do an impersonation or tell a funny story - you just need to sell yourself basically.

'' Dubbed as the ``search for the Masked Avenger,'' the auditions will continue at Newcastle Panthers from 8am to 4pm and registration forms are available from the website www.channelv.com.au
