Laid-Back Songs in Retro Style

Who: Donavon Frankenfurter
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Thursday April 15, 2004

ANYONE who caught JACK JOHNSON'S dates on his sold-out 2003 tour of Australia would be familiar with DONAVON FRANKENREITER. The Californian muso and surfer supported Johnson and will return next month for his own round of headline gigs.

Known for his 70s retro style in and out of the water, Frankenreiter is renowned for keeping it simple.

He delivers gentle, laid-back songs, fuelled by an uncomplicated backing of acoustic guitar, bass and drums.

With a strong fan base among the surfing community, his career has travelled a similar road to that of pro-surfing pal Johnson, with success coming via the underground grapevine.

Signed to Johnson's BRUSHFIRE RECORDS, Frankenreiter's self-titled debut album out will be out on April 5.

Frankenreiter will tour the east coast in April with US singer- songwriter GARY JULES whose version of TEARS FOR FEARS' Mad World was featured as the theme to the film DONNIE DARKO. Frankenreiter and Jules will perform at the EAST COAST BLUES AND ROOTS FESTIVAL at Byron Bay before landing at the CAMBRIDGE HOTEL on April 15.

Tickets are on sale now.
