Empty Flight Full of Promise

Who: An Empty Flight
Where: Northern Star Hotel
When: Friday September 13, 2002

IT's a year of firsts for Sydney band AN EMPTY FLIGHT. The new year saw the release of the band's debut EP and will see it perform its inaugural show in Newcastle this week.

Formerly known as PHLOEM, An Empty Flight (pictured) has been doing the rounds for more than five years.

In that time, it has picked up an impressive list of support slots, sharing the stage with the FOO FIGHTERS, GRINSPOON, BLINK 182 and THE BLUE MEANIES. But making a name for itself has been the main focus for the band and it has released the EP ART VS COMMERCE. Its fanbase has grown quickly, with two tracks from the EP titled EQUATIONS OF THE FALLOUT and WINTER SONG gaining heavy rotation on TRIPLE J. The EP was recorded by ARIA award-winning producer PAUL MCKERCHER, who has previously worked with AUGIE MARCH, YOU AM I and MOTORACE. An Empty Flight will perform at the NORTHERN STAR HOTEL on Friday night.
