Still Standing On Solid Rock

Who: Midnight Oil, Diesel
Where: Newcastle Panthers
When: Friday October 25, 2002

THIS year has been a busy one for Australia's legends of political rock.

MIDNIGHT OIL has completed an extensive tour of the US, UK and Canada and released its 14th album, CAPRICORNIA. The band is back on home soil and, after 25 years at the top, it continues to pull huge crowds.

Last week the band performed as one of the headlining acts at the inaugural M-ONE concert series.

The band has embarked on a 16-date national tour and will return to Newcastle for the first time in more than a year this month.

Midnight Oil will perform at CLUBNOVA PANTHERS NEWCASTLE on October 25.

The concert is a real coup for the city as it is the only regional date the band is scheduled to perform in NSW.

The remainder of the tour will see the band visit much of the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland.

The band has had a long affiliation with the Australian outback and the album's title was taken from a novel which looks at European settlement in northern Australia.

'After spending a heap of time in North America this year the band is in tough form and very ready to come and play our hearts out in some of our favourite north Aussie locations,' frontman PETER GARRETT said.

Tickets to Midnight Oil are on sale from the club on 4929-7555.

The Oils will be supported by DIESEL.
