Hunter female talent set to go on show AN abundance of talent has quickly emerged among the many female musicians in Newcastle.

Special events designed to specifically showcase the talents of these performers are frequent and Grind Cafe on Darby Street is the next to follow the trend.

Six of the region's rising talents will perform on Friday night in a special showcase dubbed Original Women upstairs at Grind Cafe.

Organisers put the show together to provide a supportive space for original performers in Newcastle.

They also hope the show will raise Newcastle's profile as a scene for original music.

Original Women will feature performances from Coral Farrow-Menzies, Belinda 'Empress' Kelly, Anousha Victoire and a special guest.

Sarrow Menzies, who has been playing music since the age of four, will make her solo debut at the event after fronting the now-defunct band Fun-Q. Other performances will include art installation by artist Jessika Schaad and a set of funky beats from DJ Fiona K. The show will kick off at 8pm and entry is by donation.
