NOFX Smaller Nearer Day

Who: NOFX
Where: Fanny's
Author: Jade Lazerevic
When: Thursday January 24, 2002

IF you plan on going to the Big Day Out this year just to catch NOFX, then forget it.

You can stay in Newcastle and catch the legendary punk act when they perform at Fanny's on January 24.

Since forming in 1984 and surviving numerous line-up changes, NOFX remain one of the most influential and controversial bands of the punk genre.

The band paved the way for two-minute nonsense punk tracks, and punk acts like Bodyjar and Frenzal Rhomb rate them as one of the biggest influences in their musical career.

Besides their refusal to talk to the media, NOFX also hit the headlines for their foul humour and quirky song titles.

Song titles include Mean People Suck and Flossing A Dead Horse. NOFX will be supported by Frenzal Rhomb and local lads Creeping Jesus at Fanny's.

NOFX will wrap up their Australian tour at the Perth Big Day Out on February 3 before returning to the US for a tour throughout North America. Tickets to the other gigs of their Australian tour have been selling fast, with both shows at Melbourne's HI-Fi Bar selling out weeks ago.

Tickets to the gig at Fanny's are available for $35 from Rumours, Beaumont Street Beat and The Rock Shop.
