What: Miss Voodoo Dolls Ultimate Bikini Model Search
Where: The Castle Tavern
When: Thursday April 18, 2002

IN THE dark and distant past, voodoo dolls were used to inflict pain on one's worst enemies.

But their most recent incarnations are here for pleasure.

Tomorrow night marks the grand final of The Castle's Miss Voodoo Dolls Ultimate Bikini Model Search.

The Hunter Region's best swimsuit models will set the stage alight for a first-prize package of $5000 and a modelling spot in the upcoming Voodoo Dolls 2003 catalogue.

Castle promotions manager Renee Lambkin said the competition had attracted an original field of more than 50 contestants and this had been whittled down to 16 top performers.

Unlike other swimsuit contests, the girls would be judged in three separate categories: swimwear, bikini-wear and beach-wear.

Ms Lambkin said the one-piece swimwear category meant the girls would be judged not only on the parts of their body they were willing to expose, but on their natural good looks.

'Basically it is designed to reward the natural beauty that is seen on our beaches, up and down the Australian coast,' she said.

The girls will also go under the microscope on the night, answering questions about personality and lifestyle.

New FM's Fat Boys will host the night and the winner will be decided by a panel of judges including representatives from modelling agencies, clothing distributors and the hospitality industry.

Doors open at 8pm on the night, with the girls on stage from 9pm.

Entry is free before midnight, half-price after that for students and $5 for others.
