AT a Newcastle club you can trek back in time to the days when a man and woman would dance cheek.

Every Tuesday night at the Cardiff Workers Club, versatile band Kaye and the Boys put on an Old Time Dance. The Hunter four-piece outfit also play at the Kurri Workers Club every Friday and Cessnock Supporters every Monday night.

Kaye has been leading bands around the area for 40 years and worked in all major clubs in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

She has also backed local and international artists, earned their respect and been affectionately dubbed 'Queen of the Keyboard' and 'The Arpeggio Queen'.

Her husband of three years, Peter Carver is lead vocalist and plays the bass keyboard.

Referred to as 'Mr Crooner', he was trained as a vocalist at the conservatorium and has starred in many local musical productions.

Drummer and back-up vocalist Peter 'Sticks' Blakeney is also proficient on guitar, saxophone and keyboards

Multi-talented saxophonist Geoff 'The Guru' Travis rounds out the line-up.

The Old Time Dance starts at 7.30pm and usually runs until 10.30pm.

Price is $3 with lucky spots all night.
