Duo a Music Institution

Who: Wilson and Lightfoot
Where: Hamilton Green Roof Hotel
Author: Michael Gadd
When: Friday March 16, 2001

RARELY will you find Newcastle-based country duo Wilson and Lightfoot at home on a Friday night.

The duo, made up of John Wilson on lead vocals and acoustic guitar and John Lightfoot on bass guitar, sequencing and backup vocals, has become an institution in the Hunter pub and club scene.

Since they performed their first gig at the Commonwealth Hotel in Newcastle in 1988, the pair has enjoyed regular gigs throughout NSW and the Hunter.

'Our band of loyal supporters has continued to grow over the years,' Lightfoot said.

'This is something we are very grateful for.

'Our audiences now include friends we catch up with at our regular gigs from Sydney to Forster to Tamworth.'

Whether it is traditional or modern country, Wilson and Lightfoot strive to provide the entertainment their audience wants.

This weekend they will play at what has become their regular haunt, the Hamilton 'Greenroof' Hotel on Friday night, the Commercial Hotel, Morpeth on Saturday and the Maitland City Bowling Club on Sunday.
