Bands Band Together to Save Species from Logging

What: Old Growth Forever
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Friday June 8, 2001

A diverse combination of local artists will band together to support a tender habitat.

The concert at the Cambridge Hotel on Friday night will feature Audiophile, Tadpodee, Jason Donovan Enima Explosion, Chi, Favours For Each Other, Head Poppin Fatness and DJs Throbgoblin, Phal Al and DJ Aum. The concert is in aid of the Badja State Forest, which is east of Cooma in south-eastern NSW.

Organiser of the concert Jackl Thieme said the old-growth forests of Badja contained more threatened species than any other forest types in southern NSW.

'It is the home of so many species and has been described as a biodiversity hot spot",' he said.

'This identified and so-far unspoilt wilderness faces the threat of logging soon.'

'The Old Growth Forever gig has been organised by the Wilderness Society to raise awareness and funds to support the protection of this magnificent old-growth forest.'
