FROM a young age country music star Audrey Auld developed her deep love and appreciation of country music and holds its origins close to her heart.

Audrey has been performing since the age of six and fell in love with country music as a teen.

She has managed to take a modern outlook on country and become one of Australia's most popular young stars in the field.

Seen as passionate, frank and fun she displays a deep respect for the traditions of country music and still manages to appeal to younger fans.

Audrey has an album to her name titled The Fallen. She not only wrote most of it but produced the entire session herself.

Her album has received critical acclaim internationally from both country and mainstream listeners.

The Fallen includes a duet with Texan artist, Dale Watson who she supported on tour in 1999.

She has also opened shows for US stars like Junior Brown and The Woody's. In 1998 Audrey formed Reckless Records with Bill Chambers and released Looking Back To See. They had the honour of being named best duo in the 1998 Victorian Country Music Awards and were CMAA Gold Guitar Finalists in 2000.

The album won Best Album in the Australian Independent Country Music Awards and Best Band and Best Traditional Album in the Independent Country Music Awards of Germany.

The duo was also Independent Entertainer of the Year finalists in the inaugural CMAA Achiever Awards. In past reviews, Audrey has been described as having a 'spine-tingling 1940s hillbillyette sound, who writes as good a contemporary country song as anyone and sings them better than most'.

Audrey will perform with Kylie Sackley, Raebekah Roycroft and Stephanie Grant during the Young Stars of Country Show at Greta Workers Club on Friday.

The show begins at 8pm and bookings can be made by calling 4838 7325.
