James T Sharpens Tunes for Big Blues

Who: James Thornburn
Where: The Catho Pub (Catherine Hill Bay Hotel)
When: Sunday February 11, 2001

CINCINNATI-born guitarist JAMES THORNBURN has spent most of his life on the road writing, performing and recording music with such luminaries as BIG JOE TURNER, JOHN LEE HOOKER and ERIC BURDON. But JAMES T and his band THE LAST VOLUNTEERS, performing on Sunday afternoon at the Catho Pub, have since found a home in Australia as an in-demand East Coast touring artist.

James T, who also fronted CANNED HEAT for more than 10 years in the 1980s, released his debut album FIRST UP in 1997.

Last year The Last Volunteers released a second album SHARPEN UP, featuring a strong new selection of James' original tunes combined with a number of 'road-tested crowd pleasers'.

Sydney blues music critic ANDREW WILLIAMS described the latest effort as 'nothing but a blistering brilliant blues CD'.

James T plans to tour the CD on the European circuit in 2001. TE
