Who: David Williams
What: Monthly Comedy Club
Where: The Valley Brewery
When: Wednesday February 28, 2001

ON the back of a stay at Sydney's most prestigious comedy venue The Comedy Store, popular Adelaide comedian David Williams will be the headline act for The Valley Brewery Monthly Comedy Club in Maitland tonight.

By no means a novice, Williams has performed alongside some of the nation's biggest comic names since making his debut four years ago.

He has worked with The Amazing Jonathon, Sean Hughes, Judith Lucy, Greg Fleet, Matt King, Shane Bourne, Vince Sorrenti, Bruno Lucia, Steady Eddy, Julia Morris, Kitty Flannagan and Modern Problems in Science. He is now regarded as one of Australia's brightest young talents.

On February 20, a gig at The Comedy Store was made extra special, as The Comedy Channel's cameras were recording Williams' set for their homegrown stand-up comedy show Headliners. Managed by A-List Entertainment, Williams is treated as an equal to some of Australia's best-known comedians and entertainers including Anthony Mir, Elliot Goblet, Gary Eck, Mr Methane, Peter Rowsthorn, Phil 'Trust Me' Cass and Stevie Starr. In 1999 he was a runner-up in the National Green Faces Competition in Canberra, defeated only by friend and fellow A-List recruit Anh Do. He won the Triple J 'Make me Laugh' National Awards in 1996 and was a finalist in So you think you're funny? at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. Williams has also appeared on Hey Hey It's Saturday, Today Tonight on the Seven Network and in London on Live TV. He has also appeared on 'Best of the Fest' on Channel Ten and ABC's O'Loghlin On Saturday Night.
