Jerk Promises Top Cambridge Show

Who: Jerk, Equinibrium, Minus.09, Psychosis Extremis
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
Author: Jade Lazerevic
When: Friday December 7, 2001

METAL music fans should get along to The Cambridge Hotel on Friday night for a taste of Jerk. Formed in 1999, Jerk has been compared to Korn, Tool, Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin because of its use of diverse styles and heavy sound.

Jerk surfaced when drummer and programmer Larmar Lowder and vocalist Jonathan Devoy met at Sydney industrial nightclub Hellrazor. The band's potential was obvious when two of its early tracks appeared in two films.

Wicked, which was one of Jerk's first demos, was used in the film Powderburn and Jesus Saves was chosen by renowned producer Mark Opitz for use on the soundtrack to Cut. Surviving a number of line-up changes, guitarist Charles Cilia and bass player Dee joined the band early last year and have taken Jerk to where they are today.

The band has developed a strong fan base and recorded an EP which resulted in a self-titled debut.

Jerk will be joined by Equinibrium, Minus.09 and Psychosis Extremis on Friday night.

TE has one Jerk pack to giveaway containing an autographed Jerk CD, Jerk t-shirt, Jerk video and a double pass to the show.
