A Group that Defies Musical Description

Who: Spot The Dog
Where: Great Northern Hotel
When: Sunday September 2, 2001

WHEN it comes to categorising their music, it is impossible to slot Spot The Dog into one musical genre.

The Brisbane-based five piece manages to incorporate a little bit of everything including folk, rock and Celtic sounds in their music.

Their latest album Brand New Juliet is a shining example of this, offering thought provoking lyrics on modern day life, love and social issues.

Mark Cryle is the principal songwriter for the group and was a finalist in the Australian Songwriters Association National Awards.

He was also nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Queensland Recording Association Sunnie Awards.

Helen McGreevy fronts the band with the fiddle, mandolin, piano, guitar and tight rhythms from the bass and drums.

Harrigan's at Pokolbin will host the band on Saturday and the group will perform at The Great Northern Hotel on Sunday.
