IT'S been just over two months since Skunkhour paid Newcastle a visit, but the boys are back and ready to rock SJs Hotel on Friday night.

Still enjoying the success of their latest album The Go, Skunkhour has extensively toured the country with up-and-coming musicians like Claude Hay Bay who will join them at SJs.

Since reigniting the funk element back into the group, Skunkhour is more than pleased with the end result.

'We decided when we started writing again, especially with the song Home, that everything had to be based more simply around the groove element,' lead singer Aya Larkin said.

'There also had to be a certain positivity - so that's the main theme that's influenced the writing.'

Home became one of the biggest hits for the group and reached number 82 on Triple J's Hottest 100. Kick In the Door was another funk and soul infused track that went down well with fans, taking it to number 83 on the Triple J chart.
