THE Cambridge Hotel will host the first in a series of Fresh concerts on Friday.

The Fresh concept hopes to regularly showcase Newcastle's quality line of up-and-coming talent.

Deep Elem, Brooke Harvey, Kairus, Superslide and Beyond the Treeline will perform.

Recordings from other young talented local acts will play between bands in conjunction with the 2NUR-FM's local music show Wet Cement. The bands will play from 8pm-1am.

PROMISING: TOP local talent will perform at The Palais Royale on Friday to raise money for kids with cancer. Entitled One Future the all ages event will feature Strength To Strength, Luke, Crucible, Cotton Side-Walk and Gassoon. The night will run 6.30pm-11pm and will be free of drugs, alcohol and crowd surfing. Also, no pass-outs. Tickets cost $7 at the door.

FOLK LAUNCH: NEWCASTLE folk singer-songwriter Tonchi, will officially launch his album The Man Who Single-Handedly Warmed The Globe at the University's Bar On The Hill on Thursday night.

He will be supported by Sydney band and Triple J regulars, Lazy Susan.
