Models of Consistency Resurface for New Era

Who: The Models
Where: Newcastle Panthers
When: Friday October 27, 2000

IN the 1980s THE MODELS were arguably one of Australia's most innovative and diverse bands.

With the release of the ground breaking LOCAL AND/OR GENERAL album, The Models immediately established themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

Now, 12 years down the track, the definitive line-up has reformed, including vocalist SEAN KELLY, bass player and singer JAMES FREUD, drummer BARTON PRICE and keyboard player ROGER MASON. Freud told TE the band also had decided to write a batch of new songs for an album, which the band will be roadtesting at Friday night's concert at Newcastle Workers Club.

'These will be a step away from the last album (but) I think anything we do will sound like The Models,' he said.

The group's 1983 release PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY yielded the band's first commercial hit, I HEAR MOTION, which later resurfaced in the soundtrack to the YAHOO SERIOUS film YOUNG EINSTEIN. In 1985 the band became a household name with the mega-hits BARBADOS and OUT OF MIND, OUT OF SIGHT, from the multi-platinum selling album of the same name.

The band's final album MEDIA was released in 1986. The band called it a day in 1988. TE
