Lake Macquarie to Celebrate Rock 'n' Roll

Who: Tezza and The Twist Tops
Where: Belmont Sportsmans Club
When: Friday October 20, 2000

CLASSY cars and authentic rock'n'roll music will kick-start the LAKE MACQUARIE ROCKS FESTIVAL, in Toronto, Speers Point, Warners Bay and Belmont this weekend.

At Belmont Sportsmans Club, on Friday night, TEZZA & THE TWISTOPS will spin out 1950s and 1960s rock'n'roll, 'with an authenticity that reminds us of the innocence and simplicity of those days'.

Lead singer TERRY VOTE promises fans that his band will take rockers of all ages 'on a time warp'.

'We take you back to the exciting days of petticoats and ponytails,' he said.

Formed in 1988, the band has an original CD THE THINGS YOU DO for sale at gigs, but specialises in playing covers from the classic rock'n'roll bands.

Saturday night, at Belmont Sportsmans Club, ANDY & THE CRUISERS will take to the stage with more classic rock'n'roll. Both acts begin at 7.30pm.

Speers Point RSL Club has booked two classic rock'n'roll bands to perform. Friday night, THE WANDERERS and Saturday night JUKEBOX JIVE, will have rockers twisting the night away.

Saturday afternoon, at Warners Bay Foreshore, WARNERS BAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will present PATTI & THE PEPPERMINTS. Sunday afternoon, the TORONTO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will present the Toronto St Fair, where the AMERICAN CRUISERS CAR CLUB plans to show hundreds of classic 1950s automobiles.

A rock'n'roll band JOHNNY FLASHBACK & THE HOUND DOGGIES will perform during the day, with a rock'n'roll DJ and a roving jazz band on hand to rev the crowd up. TE
