Techno Takes on Town

What: Vitalbeats
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Saturday November 11, 2000

VITALBEATS returns to the Cambridge Hotel this Saturday night, where Sydney-based DJ BEXTA will be whipping up audiences with her trademark 'hard and fast bangin' techno'. Bexta will be joined on stage this Saturday night by deejays PATSAN, CHRIS CALM, FIONA K, SOL C, PHAT ALI, THROB GOBLIN, MILES DYSON, THE SPECIALIST, KATO and MATHEMATICS. TE has two double passes to VITALBEATS to give away. To go in the draw, enter on-line at www.nnp.com.au

ELASTIC FUNK: YOU'VE seen him play R&B in DUTCH OVEN, '60s, 70s and 80s' in BIRKO, alternative in BUFO, reggae in GRASSTREE and MACARHYTHM and funk in ORPHEUS. This Saturday night, bass player UNCLE ELASTIC (not his real name, we think) can be found supporting FAVOURS FOR EACH OTHER at the Wickham Park Hotel. As a solo, bass-playing busker, Uncle Elastic plays a 'funky soundscape' under the name of FLIP-FLOP which has been recorded, featuring backing from various artists on his other projects.

ENVIRO GIG: SUPERSONIC, CHI, ELAMENO-P, LIMEN 10, BROOKE HARVEY and FUNK-U will perform at the Palais Royale on Friday, November 10, to raise funds for the NEWCASTLE YOUTH ENVIRONMENT COUNCIL. The council formed recently to support organisations such as ANIMAL LIBERATION, SURFRIDERS FOUNDATION, THE WILDERNESS SOCIETY, TREES IN NEWCASTLE and the NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY ENVIRONMENTAL COLLECTIVE. The night will also include performance artists, stalls from environmental groups and a chill-out zone in the Palais Loft.
