TRUE friendship is the message at the heart of the story CHARLOTTE'S WEB being staged by YOUNG PEOPLE'S THEATRE The story of runt piglet Wilbur, who is saved from the chopping block by a little girl named Fern and then by a true friend Charlotte, has been a popular children's book for many years.

YPT will perform a full-length stage adaptation of the EB WHITE book every Saturday at 2pm and 7pm, until May 27.

Directed by WENDY LEIS and KELLIE GRANT, the production features original music composed by GLENDA PRICE. Price, one of the mothers of a YPT member, will star in one of the adult roles while her daughter Emily works on the production backstage.

Charlotte's Web is the second production of interest to schools this year, following ROMEO & JULIET. Other productions planned by YPT later this year include SO MUCH TO TELL YOU in August, a play adapted by author JOHN MARSDEN after his own book of the same name.

In October the company will stage JACK & THE BEANSTALK. And in memory of the late PEANUTS cartoonist CHARLES SCHULZ YPT will stage YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN in October. Year Nine, Year 10 and Year 11 from the HUNTER SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS will stage a concurrent production of SNOOPY. TE
