Cambridge set for solid blistering Night

Who: Big Heavy Stuff
Where: The Cambridge Hotel
When: Friday June 9, 2000

ASTUTE Indie guitar band BIG HEAVY STUFF has been playing its distinctive 'blistering guitar noise tempered with classic pop melodies' since 1990.

Along the way the band has garnered a cult following and is cited as an influence on many of today's coolest guitar bands.

Friday night at The Cambridge Hotel the group will preview songs from its latest CD SIZE OF THE OCEAN which is due out soon.

The single DEVIL'S TONGUE has been receiving plenty of TRIPLE J airplay, but the album has been held up while the band searches for a new record label.

Fans tell us there are ways around the fact that it can't be bought yet, in the shops at least. Inquiries can be made at http://bigheavystuff.arecool.net

The band formed in 1990 releasing a string of singles and EPs before its debut album TRUCK IN NOVEMBER, followed by another four EPs including BIG MOUTH, MAY and COVERED IN BRUISES. Its last album MAXIMUM SINCERE on SHOCK RECORDS, was followed by two singles, the title track and CHEATING ON A DEAD WIFE. Band members are (from left) drummer NICK KENNEDY, bass player ELLIOT FISH, guitarist CAROLYN POLLEY and lead singer/guitarist GREG ATKINSON. Friday night's show will be the band's first since playing at the University of Newcastle in February supporting SOMETHING FOR KATE.
