Resin Dogs set to launch new single

MASTERS of hip hop, breakbeat and funk, the RESIN DOGS, will launch its new single DAILY TROUBLE/ROCK DE REKID, at The Cambridge Hotel this Saturday night.

Joining the band on stage at the hotel will be electronic/rock outfit ON and DJ's MARK N and SOUP. On recently completed a six-week national tour with MACY GRAY and will be releasing the second track LOC, from their first EP LUNCHBOX THERMOS, to radio and for DJs to vinyl.

Defining what it is Resin Dogs sound is an unusually difficult task according to the group.

'If you have experienced the band live then chances are you only have one half of the picture,' the group says.

'The same can be said if you have only heard the Dogs on record.'

The common element that links the group is its core of four players and their interest in combining different styles of music.

Members are DJ KATCH, GEOFF (JIGZAW) BOARDMAN, DAVE ATKINS and CHRIS BOSLEY, are all involved in various other projects. Atkins & Katch perform a four deck live hip hop mix under the moniker 2Dogs, who will also perform separately at the Cambridge on Saturday night.

Katch is also resident DJ at Brisbane's Ric's Cafe and has recorded with artists such as REGURGITATOR. Atkin's career has included stints with seminal bands such as PANGAEA and PRECISION OILER and he also produces records and deejays.

Boardman has composed and recorded his own material under the name BLUNTED STYLUS and also deejays while Bosley has played with many Brisbane groove bands such as ELEVATION and is also working with other groups such as SHOCK FUNGUS. Their album due out in next month was recorded with TROUBLE FUNK frontman, producer ROBERT REED. The band has worked with numerous collaborators over the last three years including DJ RANSOM, BEN ELY, (Regurgitator) ABSTRACT RUDE and LAZY GREY. Resin Dogs has performed its infamous groove-oriented live show at the BIG DAY OUT and LIVID.
