Celtic group set to laysiege to the Duke

IF the sound of highland bagpipes combined with a rock beat last made your hair stand on end when AC/DC performed IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP, then HIGHLANDER has a treat for you.

This new Celtic rock group, making its debut on Saturday night at the Duke of Wellington Hotel, has fused bagpipes to its Celtic rock collective which also features the violin and tin whistle.

The result is going to be a feeling akin to having a cool wind blown up your kilt, with a Guinness in your hand, song after song after song.

Highlander performs traditional Scottish tunes with a rock beat, as well as 'Australiana songs' and well known Irish jigs and reels.

Highlander is SUSSI THOMSEN on violin, JUSTIN BODY on bagpipes, small pipes and tin whistle, GRANT FRASER on vocals, rhythm and lead guitar, JOHN GOTTERY on bass and vocals and DAVE MARSHALL on drums and percussion.
