Singing Gets Sparke

Who: Tanya Sparke
Where: Senior Citizens Hall
When: Tuesday May 2, 2000

AFTER living in Sydney for the past 16 years vocalist TANYA SPARKE has decided to return to the city she grew up in.

Raised in Mayfield East, Sparke worked in Sydney in acappella as assistant director for the Cafe At The Gate Of Salvation choir for nine years.

A mother of three, Sparke and her partner have returned to Newcastle to be closer to family and to escape the crushing cost of living in Sydney.

Sydney's loss is Newcastle's gain.

On Tuesday, May 2, at the Senior Citizens Hall, 23 William St, Hamilton, Sparke will hold the first class of an eight-week singing course titled SING BECAUSE IT FEELS GOOD. At the end of the course the singer will form a 15-voice choir, members of which will learn to perform acappella music from all over the world.

But Novocastrians will have to wait until the course is finished before we will be able to hear the finished product.

That is unless you enrol in the course yourself! Beginners are welcome. (Booking is essential. Inquiries phone 4962-5740.)
