Who: Welter
Where: The Star Hotel
When: Friday September 10, 1999

WELTER is a Sydney band with a debut album SATELLITE GENERATION that has been attracting rave reviews from critics, from THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, to THE DRUM MEDIA, THE MELBOURNE AGE and REVOLVER. Playing this Friday night for the second time at The Acoustic Cafe at The Star Hotel, Welter's album opens with a song JANIS that is reminiscent of THE COUNTING CROWS. The vocal style of lead singer ELLIOT WESTON possesses the husky romance of PETER GABRIEL. The song is available on RED ARROW RECORDS through MGM DISTRIBUTION as a double-sided single (with NOTHING I EVER DO on the flipside) that has received airplay on TRIPLE J, TRIPLE M and 2DAY-FM which says something about the group's crossover appeal.

The band's subdued-yet-powerful rock, has also been compared to MATCHBOX 20 and CROWDED HOUSE. It features Tasmania-born singer-songwriter Weston, Central Coast drummer DAVE WILLIAMS and Bondi bass player and vocalist MATT SKINNER.
