Pedal to the Music

Who: Mic Conway's National Junk Band
Where: Dungog RSL Club
When: Saturday September 11, 1999

SELF-PROCLAIMED 'contemporary jug band with attitude' MIC CONWAY'S NATIONAL JUNK BAND prides itself on producing music that (literally) uses everything; including a kitchen sink.

The band will be the feature artist at this weekend's DUNGOG PEDALFEST on Saturday night at the Dungog RSL Club.

Jugband music combines all the elements of blues, ragtime, folk and pop, but Conway's brand of jugband music features diversions such as tap dancing, fire eating and juggling.

Conway is known nationally for his band the CAPTAIN MATCHBOX WHOOPEE BAND, the CONWAY BROS duo and trail blazing musical circus troupe CIRCUS OZ. Joining Conway on stage will be Beaumont St regular and star of the recent NEWCASTLE JAZZ FESTIVAL, GEORGE WASHING MACHINE. It will be the fourth year that PEDALFEST has been held in Dungog. Pedalfest is a family event annually held to raise funds for the WESTPAC RESCUE HELICOPTER. After a 22km bicycle ride, families are invited to MULGA BILL'S FAMILY CABARET & DANCE at the club.
