Sweet Sounds From a Master

Who: Guy Struzillo
Where: Northern Star Hotel
When: Thursday September 9, 1999

THE latest CD BLUE PHOENIX by Sydney-based guitarist GUY STRAZZULLO features five original compositions and interpretations of classics such as JOHN COLTRANES' NAIMA and JOHN MCLAUGHLIN'S GUARDIAN ANGEL. Playing at the Northern Star Hotel tomorrow night with his band, Strazzullo is a master guitarist who shines through the delicate sounds of his nylon-stringed guitar.

His most notable career achievements include THE WIZARDS OF OZ project with DALE BARLOW. He has also entertained ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU, performed at the YATRA JAZZ FESTIVAL in India and studied Indian classical music with ASHOK ROY. Strazzullo has recently edged towards the world of mainstream culture, with a commission to write the theme for a forthcoming television series.

But his latest project, Blue Phoenix, is his current focus.

One of the original compositions was composed by electric bassist STEVE HUNTER on an 'Arizona desert landscape evocation' called MOJAVE. TE has five copies of BLUE PHOENIX to give away. To go in the draw send an envelope with your name, address and telephone number on the back, to GUY STRAZZULLO GIVEAWAY, PO Box 615, Newcastle, 2300. Or enter on-line at www.nnp.com.au TE
