THERE'S a new broom sweeping through the television world of the average two- to eight-year-old, it's called HI-5, and it's set to turn children's television upside down.
Screening at 9am on weekdays on the NINE NETWORK, its fresh new cast are aged between 19 and 25, they sing and dance, and they have segments that are interactive and stimulating.
Next month a live show, JUMP & JIVE WITH HI-5, will be performed at the Newcastle Civic Theatre on Friday, October 9, at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
Producers, HELENA HARRIS (BANANAS IN PYJAMAS and PLAYSCHOOL) and POSIE GRAEME-EVANS (MIRROR MIRROR, ELLY & JOOLS and THE MIRACULOUS MELLOPS,) are both highly awarded in their fields.
Harris had a long and distinguished career at the ABC, producing youth entertainment and adult drama, and won an outstanding creativity award from the NSW Children's Week Association.
Graeme-Evans has produced 270 hours of prime time TV over a 23-year career.
Segments such as SHAPES IN SPACE, PUZZLES AND PATTERNS, MAKING MUSIC, BODY MOVE! and SHARING STORIES are taken by individual presenters.
Each segment focuses on different aspects of building 'visual and spatial awareness, logical thinking and mathematical ability, musicality, language and listening skills, physical and co-ordination development' as well as 'self awareness and social skills'.TE
