Guitarist Honours us With his Presence

NEW Zealand guitarist - via Los Angeles and Sydney - CAMERON DEYELL will guest with the DARYL ABERHART TRIO this Saturday afternoon at The Kent Hotel.

Performing from 5pm until 8pm, Deyell, 22, recently moved to Sydney after living and playing guitar in Los Angeles, where he completed his honours year in guitar at the University of California, Los Angeles.

He completed his degree in jazz performance at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide before relocating to the US, where he had been awarded the fully paid scholarship to UCLA.

While there he was twice admitted to the Dean's honours list for academic achievements in music and ethnomusicology studies.

He also recorded a selection of solo jazz guitar pieces produced by his teacher KENNY BURRELL, and performed with BILLY HIGGINS, LOUIE BELLSON and GARY FOSTER. Deyell, who also performs in a Sydney improvising trio THE NEW MUSIC CONGRESS, will return to play with the Aberhart trio on Saturday, December 11. TE
