A Festival with Bite

What: Dogbite '99
Where: Maitland Showground
When: Monday April 19, 1999

DOGBITE 99 is emerging as a festival to be reckoned with this year, with a stellar line-up of local and national acts booked for the event.

At least another seven bands will be added to the bill, including an international act which will take the festival to new heights, and earn it a place on the national festival circuit.

Presented by MAITLAND CITY LIBRARY, in conjunction with APACHEE REIGN PROMOTIONS, Dogbite 99 will also take on a new look when it's staged at Maitland Show Ground on April 19.

MARCUS WRIGHT of Apachee Reign said 10 Hunter bands had been confirmed for the event. They include CHIN CHEN, MUZZY PEP, SHANK'D, CLOKWORK, BIAS, ARMS REACH, PURPLENE, ARMY OF PRAWNS, DOSDUMULAR and AUDIOPHILE. Two 'pedigree' Aussie bands, PRESHRUNK and ESKIMO JOE, have also been confirmed and negotiations are under way to complete the bill.

'There will also be an international act appearing, and this year we'll be incorporating the Fringe Festival as part of the event,' Wright told TE this week.

'Dogbite will be in its third year this year and each year it's growing.

'It's now a nationally recognised event within the music industry.

'Basically it's a safe, all-ages event that's good for everyone, young and old.'

The festival will take a new format in 1999, he said.

'In the last two years the lay-out of the festival has basically been the same, with the stage in the same place, this year there will be a new format and we'll be mixing things up a bit,' he said.

'There could be two stages, we just want to change the visual effects.

'There will still be market stalls and that type of things but there will be new rides this year, better rides.'
