Get some 70s Funk

Who: Extreme Blues
Where: Beach Hotel
When: Thursday December 2, 1999

NEXT week you'll find EXTREME BLUES guitar slinger NGARIKI bending notes on his guitar at the Beach Hotel where he can be found fortnightly with STEVE MAC and KENT JACKSON. But this Thursday night at the Beaches and Saturday night at The Grand you'll find none of the 'HENDRIX and CREAM' that punters have come to expect from the talented guitarist/vocalist.

This week it's all 'funk and soul' with his alter ago SHOE PHONE, that Ngariki plays in with Extreme Blues bass man Jackson.

Members of Shoe Phone include drummer CHICO DE LACRUISE, congas and percussion player WOMBLE MILLER and saxophonist and keyboard player SHANE SIMMONDS. 'With Shoe Phone we concentrate on the 70s,' Ngariki said.

Covered artists include JAMES BROWN, HOT CHOCOLATE, KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND and 'a fair whack of STEVE WONDER'. If blues and R&B is your thing look out for Extreme Blues which sees Ngariki on fire, belting out JIMI HENDRIX, CREAM, BB KING, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN and JOHNNY WINTER. And look out for guest guitar spots at Extreme Blues gigs from drummer Mac who swaps seats with Ngariki for a rousing rendition of ROADHOUSE BLUES!
