Bigger Bellingen Carnival

What: Bellingen Global Carnival

FOR the past four years the BELLINGEN GLOBAL CARNIVAL has been staging a world music, dance and arts festival at the Bellingen show grounds during the October long weekend.

This year the line-up is bigger and better than ever, with artists including VM BHATT (India), RUBY HUNTER (Australia), MOSES O'JAH (West Africa), BISSEROV SISTERS (Bulgaria), WAAK WAAK JUNGI (Australia), BALALAIKA ENSEMBLE (Russia) and CELTIC CITY SONS (Europe).

Beginning at 6pm on Friday, October 2, the carnival also features high-wire aerial acts, cabaret circus acts, comedy street theatre, contemporary art and craft, poetry and story telling.

A discussion forum, held on the Sunday of the event, chaired by GEORGE NEGUS, debates issues relevant to modern Australia and cultural diversity.

The Global Carnival is offering 'Early Bird Weekend Passes' at a 'substantial discount' until September 18: adult $60, youth (13-17) $35, aged pensioner $35, children (5-12) $12. From September 18, and from the gate, tickets will cost adult $70, youth $40, aged pensioner $40 and children $12.

Daily and nightly passes are also available. Children under five are free and again this year there will be professional child minding services. Camping is also available.

Tickets are available from Bellingen Global Carnival, PO Box 350, Bellingen, NSW, 2454. Inquiries phone (02) 6655-9079, or fax (02) 6655-9379. Or visit the website at www.midcoast.com.au
